Undeniably, there are hundreds of types and brands of (basmati) rice, including the superior "aged" varieties originating from special locations (eg the legendary "purana Dehraduni basmati"). But this India Gate (yes, it's aged but I do not know where it comes from, probably Haryana) rice is a classic in more ways than one - super long grain, wonderful texture and taste. It is the best easily available basmati I have ever eaten (and my tastings include several also excellent brands from Pakistan), and I see no point in continuing my erstwhile search for better varieties/brands for my kitchens here and in Europe.

The rice quality is great. They come out to be big in size and don't stick together if you cook them correctly.The taste is great. They smell good and great for boiled and biryanis.I have been using them for years now.Do try if you havent yet.I will surely recommend them.

I have been using india Gate basmati rice for years.Sometimes I feel rice fragrance is not as much as basmati rice of yore used to have. Still,the look when its cooked and the taste is better than many other brands I keep trying for many reasons.
